  • Take time to plan the storage for your needs: Closets are a big part of this. If you live up north, then you certainly need a coat closet near the main entry, but if you live down south, this may be less practical for your needs. Maybe eliminate this space and repurpose that space for a mudroom with organization that would better suit your family’s needs. Think through each storage space in the home and make sure it’s maximized to YOUR needs.
  • Consider your stage of life: Do you plan to have this home long term or short term? Is mobility for the golden years of retirement an issue? Or are you going to have a young family in the Dallas new construction home? Considering your life stage can help you determine whether you need stairs vs. none, if there are safety features you need to include, and more.
